Phishing

March 24, 2005

Description:

You receive an email informing you that you need to update your account information. It looks official, so you click the link that takes you to the company's official website, or so it seems. You fill out the form and the next thing you know, you've been had!!

Spammers have discovered a new way to obtain your financial account information by developing a spam-borne email technique called “phishing”. Phishing attacks use social engineering, 'spoofed' e-mails and 'spoofed' urls to fool even discrimenating recipients into divulging personal financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames and passwords, social security numbers, etc. By hijacking the trusted brands of well-known banks, online retailers and credit card companies, phishers are able to convince up to 5% of their targets to respond to them.

Join us as experts discuss what to watch for when opening email and responding to offers.

In this webcast we discuss:

  • Web-based Delivery
  • Phishing Message Delivery
  • Trojaned Hosts
  • Phishing Attack Vector
  • Defense Mechanisms
  • How to educate users about phishing
  • What to do if you think your email has been spoofed

Know Your Risk Level, Get Your Score: The Phishing Vulnerability Assessment
January 12, 2005

Description:

Do you know your organization’s vulnerability to losing corporate, and even proprietary information from a phishing attack?

By now everyone has gotten those annoying phishing emails asking for account numbers, passwords, PIN numbers, and more. No one ever falls for them, right? Wrong!

MailFrontier research data reveals that over 90% of email users are fooled by phishing emails. Nearly 10% of users are fooled even after they were told that such emails were suspicious, and 2-3% of the people who received such an email still provide some information. Even if YOU aren’t fooled, your users might be—and the damage can extend well beyond the individual when corporate assets are comprised, directly or indirectly, through a phishing attack.

Baseline magazine and MailFrontier collaborated to create the Phishing Vulnerability Assessment to help IT departments evaluate their phishing vulnerability level.

Join MailFrontier in this eSeminar and be among the first to review the new Phishing Vulnerability Assessment. Once you take the assessment, based on your company information, you’ll get:

  • Vulnerability rating
  • Cost breakdown
  • Cumulative cash flow analysis
  • Key financial metrics

How to catch a phish
Keep online phishing and fraud out of your company
October 26, 2004

Description
Phishing and online fraud come in almost every imaginable form—from get-rich-quick scams to illicit requests for confidential information. Even worse, the tricks fraudsters use often fool the savviest email users. Now having turned consumer phishing into a multi-billion dollar business, fraudsters are eyeing the vulnerabilities of the enterprise—with spoofs, scams, and schemes designed to fool your users, breach your network security, put your company at legal risk, and cost your company money. It’s clear that now more than ever, protection from the emerging threat of enterprise phishing and online fraud requires focused attention and unique tactics.

As it gets better and more sophisticated, phishing and online fraud is going to be tough to spot and tough to stop—but not impossible.  In conjunction with deploying security technology specifically designed to identify and block phishing and fraud, all IT administrators need to look for the least risky, most effective way to keep “phishy” email out of their companies.  The trick is to understand what phishing and fraud are—and where and how they pose the greatest danger to your users, infrastructure, and information.

This eSeminar examines the evolution of phishing in the enterprise and discusses specific fraud prevention tactics for your business, such as:

  • Why the network gateway is the best place to set up your defense against phishing and online fraud
  • How the right solution can significantly decrease your organization’s risk of becoming a “phishing hole”
  • What strategy will result in an efficient, but still effective, anti-fraud solution that will evolve with threat trends and scale with your company

Easy is not a four letter word

Achieve hassle-free email security now
October 20, 2004

Description:
Some email security solutions make promises they don’t always keep. “Fast” installations that take weeks to complete. “Attractive” end-user interfaces that require a manual to decipher. “Hands off” administration that requires days of your time. You don’t need complexity; you don’t need confusion. You need easy.

Email security is a top-of-mind concern for IT organizations in every industry and every size company. But sometimes, IT managers become trapped by very solution they depend on to protect them from spam, virus, phishing and fraud. Difficulties during deployment, calls from frustrated users, hours lost managing tedious, routine administration—all of these things combine to create a security solution that’s worse than the original security problem.
How can you tell if an email security solution means it when it says it’s “easy”? How streamlined does it make deployment? How intuitive is it for users? How fast is it to update? How quickly does it end your role as company spam-fighter? A truly “easy” solution will answer all these questions—and never compromise effectiveness.

At this eSeminar learn about what makes an email security solution easy to deploy, manage, and use such as:

  • Administrative features that let you set filtering options at the corporate, group or individual level in one click
  • A user interface that lets each person decide how, when, and how often they deal with quarantined email
  • Solution capabilities that deliver a truly self-running, self-updating, and self-managing email security solution

One and Done: Real-Time LDAP Integration Does Directory Work For You
October 13, 2004

Description
Organizations depend on Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to store contact information, such as mailboxes and distribution lists, and act as the central warehouse for employee access levels, such as authorizations and passwords.

But often email security solutions do not integrate with a company's established LDAP and require separate entry of all employee information. With an email security solution that integrates with corporate LDAP servers, IT can easily eliminate a large number of redundant administration tasks. The result? Time and cost savings combined with enhanced email security.
This eSeminar will illustrate the IT benefits of LDAP synchronization and showcase integration capabilities.
