Universities and K-12 Schools Turn to MailFrontier Enterprise Gateway
as Threat to Email Grows
Integrated Email Security Solution Delivers Educators
Unparalleled Ease of Use and Management
Palo Alto, Calif. – June 1, 2004 – MailFrontier, a
pioneer in email security and leading provider of anti-spam solutions,
has expanded its growing list of more than 500 enterprise customers to
include a slate of new education institutions. Kutztown University, Northcentral
University and Sacred Heart University have adopted MailFrontier Enterprise
Gateway 3.0 email security software to protect against email threats such as
spam, viruses, fraud and directory harvest attacks. MailFrontier continues
to grow its education roster with customers such as Bellingham School District
and Mountain View-Los Altos High School District, which have already deployed
MailFrontier Enterprise Gateway.
“Education institutions should be able to focus on meeting the
academic needs of their students first and foremost, and not have to
worry about threats to their email infrastructure,” said Pavni
Diwanji, CEO and co-founder of MailFrontier. “Today, email is
just as critical a communication tool in the education sector as in
corporate enterprises. MailFrontier’s integrated email protection
solution provides a layer of security along with ease of deployment
and management, enabling educational institutions to offer staff and
students a reliable and productive communication environment.”
Email is a critical tool for today’s education institutions
as students, parents, faculty, and administrators use email as a primary
mode of communication. Among higher education institutions, students
rely on email for critical functions from e-learning to registering
for classes to communicating with professors on upcoming exams. K-12
institutions, in particular, have unique challenges in preventing explicit
email content from reaching students, while keeping email productive
and effective for administrators.
Northcentral University in Arizona faced unique challenges for its
student email system and recently purchased MailFrontier Enterprise
Gateway 3.0 to serve its users. “Electronic messaging is a critical
component in our distance learning model,” says Jerry McArthur,
IT systems manager at Northcentral University. “MailFrontier
Enterprise Gateway has helped restore user confidence in email.”
Sacred Heart University in Connecticut recently installed MailFrontier
Enterprise Gateway 3.0 to support its 3,500 users when it no longer
could rely on its anti-virus solution and needed support for spam. “MailFrontier
was the only solution that would allow us to incorporate an out-of-the-box
Bayesian filtering method with individualized white/black listing,
in addition to anti-fraud and anti-virus capabilities,” said
Saburo Usami, director of networking, telecomm and IT security for
Sacred Heart University. “I sleep well knowing that our email
systems are safe and manageable thanks to MailFrontier.”
Whether its spam compromising productivity, or the more threatening
fraudulent email already penetrating campuses, email threats can have
a devastating impact on the education network—one that schools
today cannot afford. As schools today face shrinking budgets, educators
need to focus on students, not worry about email problems. MailFrontier’s
solution blocks unwanted email from reaching the users’ inbox
through an adaptive, self-running software suite providing proactive
protection for email users.
